Timberland
Timberland, as overused as the phrase is, is a brand that truly needs no introduction. With an imprint on hip-hop, streetwear, and culture as a whole that is truly indelible, the New England brand has created the defacto boot for over half a century. From the streetwear world, we’ve seen the classic six-inch Timberland boot grace the covers of albums and magazines with some of the most iconic artists to ever do it like Biggie, Wu-Tang, and Aaliyah. But before Timbs, as we affectionately call them, became a lynchpin of street style, they were THE boot for a day on the site or a trek up some rugged mountain trails.
With needs defined by the rugged weather surrounding them, the Swartz family who owned the company, stumbled across a unique form of injection molding that seamlessly bonded the soles with the uppers to create some of the first truly waterproof leather work boots. This incredible evolution created a durable, water-proof leather work boot that was lightweight and durable, a stark break from the clunky options that had typified the industry up to that point. Building on that culture of innovation, the modern six-inch Timberland Boot features innovative PrimaLoft® insulation, 90% of which comes from recycled materials, while 50% of the internal lining is made from ReBOTL recycled plastics.
