New Balance 550MDA: Textured Luxury

After a couple of decades in the archive, the New Balance 550 came back with something to prove. Breaking rank with classic 550 releases, this new look from the Boston outfit is sumptuously summer-ready. Swapping out the typical leather look, the 550MDA is drafted using a lush, airy hemp that rolls across the length of the upper in overlapping swatches.

The crisp sea-salt hemp upper emphasizes gorgeous textures with its exposed stitching, contrasting black embroidery, and its lush, hairy suede jewel logo embedded in the laterals.

A tranquil set of classic flat laces tracks the trimmed canvas tongue to a retro, woven New Balance logo while detailed NB logo detailing is embroidered on the heel. Finally, the 550’s signature plate foam midsole has been doused in a sultry off-white complete with embossed logo detailing. Mindful and luxurious in all the right ways, this laid-back take on the 550 lets you style it however you want, dress it up, dress it down, just have fun with it.
