New Balance 1906: Step Into A Refined Future

When we strip back the eccentricities of daily life and douse the world around us in black and white, it allows us to peel back the layers, to get a better understanding of the minutia that governs our lives. Our latest project for New Balance was inspired by the identities of cities, of stark contrasts, perspectives – shadow and light. How where you stand, and where you are, can unquestionably alter your perspective and vision of what's around you. How these experiences alter not only your worldview but what you put out into the world creatively too. Beyond the surface, under the layers of life, no matter the city, there are bubbling bursts of creativity, new visions, and new ideas just waiting to be explored and understood.

Physically and metaphorically, the 1906 ‘Refined Future’ pack asks us to look beyond, explore the layers of life, and go beyond the surface. Dropping in two monochromatic colorways, this dual-release offering is crafted using lightweight mesh layered with haphazard, hacked suede, and glossy leather cut-outs. Stiff TPU counters shroud the heel while N-Lock systems thread the laterals, binding the eye stays to the upper. Layered in the midsole, we find a full-length ABZORB sole while a gel-like SBS Heel Insert glows towards the heel.
