The PUMA Speedcat: Burning Desires

Burning rubber for two decades and change, NAKED Copenhagen is proud to present the second leg in the PUMA Speedcat’s sprint back to the top of the cultural zeitgeist. Born in ’99, the off-track iteration of the Speedcat is based on the footwear worn by Grand Prix champions throughout the 80s and 90s. Even in its infancy, the Speedcat was seen as one of PUMA’s most innovative, heritage-rich designs, allowing it to roar to life off the circuit amid a frenzy of petrol-fuelled passion.
Debuting in a sultry ‘Light Blue’ and ‘Hot Coffee’, the Speedcat features a sculpted upper wrought from lush brushed suede, complete with embroidered detailing and a leaping PUMA across the toe. Grand Prix-worthy gold logo detailing is embossed atop the tongue, while a stitched suede Formstrip decorates the laterals before F1-inspired tyre detailing caps off the black rubber outsole.

Fusing this symbol of Grand-Prix pedigree with NAKED’s women-first identity, we once again turned to our muse, Sierra Rena, a renowned stylist from the world’s fashion capital who has made her name on fearless self-expression. In the deserts of Southern Spain, along abandoned race tracks and ancient rocky outcrops, Sierra dazzled beneath a setting Mediterranean sun, the Speedcat the perfect canvas for a spirit unbound by limits.

Because that’s what the PUMA Speedcat has always been: a canvas, and a vehicle for fearless individuality. Shaped by champions, perfected for the moment, you can look to add the Speedcat to your collection when it releases online and in-store October 12th.
