Our Story
You’ve heard the name, but what’s the story? Well, here at NAKED Copenhagen, we’re an open book – or maybe – an unlaced pair of shoes? Anyway, get to know us here and find out a bit more about how we work to empower women through sneakers.
Our Origin
For any relationship to be a success you gotta get to know each other, right? So, we’re happy to get this opportunity to illuminate ourselves just a tad. Founded all the way back in 2004, when skinny jeans were just a scary premonition of things to come, NAKED Copenhagen opened its doors for the first time on the cobbled streets of, you guessed it, Copenhagen. We were founded by two friends, Stine and Tom, but we’ll get to them later, and our first store was located in the heart of the city on Pilestræde.
Since 2004, our humble little shop has grown into a much bigger, yet still very humble, global shop which we are very proud of. Since our foundation we have been the go-to destination for high-heat releases, a reputation we’re still proudly rocking today. As one of just a handful of retailers globally with access to all major brands' most exclusive tiers, we’re proud to stock the most limited releases from brands like Nike, Jordan Brand, New Balance, adidas, Salomon, ASICS and more.
Our Values & Mission
As a brand founded with the intent of carving out a space for women, diversity, and inclusion are always top of mind in everything we do. But beyond that, we care deeply about empowering, developing, growing, inspiring, and supporting our community. We work to be a sustainable part of our community’s everyday life, a style destination that facilitates ideas and growth while creating a space for people to come together over shared passions.
Our Founders
Told you they’d be back. Let’s start with Stine, our vivacious Creative Director. A world traveler through and through Stine grew up in California in the 80s and 90s, where West Coast living got a real hold of her. In her mid-teens, Stine moved back to Denmark and brought with her an encyclopedic knowledge of sneakers and streetwear. When she graduated high school, or Gymnasium as we call it here, she had no idea what she wanted to do – until she thought about what she loved. Denmark was in dire need of a store that could curate cool sneakers and streetwear, especially one that catered to women. So seeing a gap in the market Stine grabbed Tom, our other co-founder and long-time friend, and went into business, putting it all on black and shooting their shot.
And, I guess it worked out because now almost two decades later NAKED Copenhagen is the leading destination for women for high-heat sneakers around the world. Not bad Stine and Tom, not bad at all.
Collaborations
Like picking your favorite kid, it would be impossible to choose our favorite collaboration because we love them all so much. Thanks to our close relationships with the good folks at sneaker brands from Portland to Kobe, we’ve had the opportunity to add a little bit of NAKED Copenhagen magic to some of the most beloved silhouettes to ever hit the market. From the Reebok Instapump Fury to the adidas Samba and UltraBOOST, a slick collaboration with Ronnie Fieg and Kith, to the Nike P6000 and ASICS GEL-1130™ we’ve definitely left our mark, but there is still a whole lot more to do!

NAKED Copenhagen Stores
Since 2004, NAKED Copenhagen has grown into three brick-and-mortar locations in Denmark alone, with two in the heart of Copenhagen and one in Aarhus, or the “City of Smiles” as we like to call it. But that’s not all Major Tom because NAKED Copenhagen is going global! Our first international flagship location is situated on the Rue Sainte-Croix de la Bretonnerie in La Marais, one of the most stylistically influential neighborhoods in the heart of Paris. Designed to be more than just a store, this elevated retail concept will allow us to synergize our digital and physical presence through curated release events and awesome store takeovers.
