Born in 1996, the Nike Air Rift was a first of its kind hybrid: part sneaker, part sandal, fully radical. Inspired by Kenyan barefoot runners and their unmatched endurance, the shoe was named after the Great Rift Valley in Kenya, an origin point for movement, speed, and storytelling.
