Sauntering through Paris with Trop Nice and the Dr. Martens Creeper

For centuries, Paris has been the heralded destination of generations of artists, musicians, sculptors, and inventors. It is a veritable melting pot of culture and creation that has drawn millions of people to its collonaded sandstone streets. For our latest project with Dr. Martens, we returned to the City of Lights to meet Anaïs, a talented musician who performs under the name Trop Nice.

“Growing up in Paris, I've always felt like an artist at heart, deeply sensitive to the symphony of sounds, shapes, and colors around me. Being an artist isn't just a choice; it's who I am, shaping every aspect of my life. Have you ever been so immersed in melodies, designs, and dreams that you felt carried away by fluttering butterflies in your stomach? If so, embrace it fully; it's the only way to truly live it.” - Trop Nice

Growing up in a deeply musical family, Trop Nice’s personal love for music was greatly influenced by her father, a long-time music producer, and her mother, a devout music enthusiast. Growing up in this music-rich environment, she grew to adore Jay-Z, Common, Mos Def, Sade, and Erykah Badu before transitioning her tastes in her older age to bands like The Smiths, The Strokes, and Thom Yorke. This novel confluence of tastes and inspirations helped evolve her sound into something decidedly unique, and decidedly her.

Offering a strikingly novel sound that blends folk, R&B, indie rock, and electronic music, Trop Nice’s novel sound meshes beautifully with Dr.Martens’ place in the pantheon of music greats who smashed musical norms in pursuit of authentic creation. What began as a working-class staple grew to enrapture music icons like Pete Townshend of The Who, The Clash, and The Velvet Underground, securing Dr. Martens as a perennial representation of unbridled self-expression. Adding her name to that decorated tapestry, Trop Nice steps out in the returning Ramsey Monk Creeper, a sueded-out loafer locked down by a brushed silver buckle, tassels, and classic creeper detailing around the toe. Join generations of music icons and treat yourself to a pair of Dr. Martens Creepers now.

Be sure to check out Trop Nice’s ethereal new single ‘Ily’ on Spotify and other platforms now.
