From Olympus to Copenhagen: Finding our spark with the Nike Air Max Muse
Words by: Gregory Noonan
For thousands of years, the Muses, goddesses of divine inspiration, have been said to enlighten us with their celestial knowledge of literature, science, and the arts. For generations, our understanding of inspiration has rested upon the intangible, upon these non-corporeal feminine forms, the faintest glimpses of which could inspire dazzling brilliance. Today, in partnership with our friends at Nike, we highlight our real Muses, whose brilliance exists not in a faraway plane, but right here and now.
Julia Dang
For Stockholm-based creative Julia Dang, her inspiration is hard to pin down, it’s never just one thing, it’s a bubbling, roiling reflection of the world she inhabits. Whether it’s fashion, art, or design, she draws on the passions of diverse forms to guide her. To her, that’s what a muse should be – ethereal, complex, an amalgamation of elements and moments from disparate disciplines. An idea she sees reflected in her girlfriend, and partner for the last years.
“That’s what truly makes a muse, when you can constantly find a source of inspiration that fuels your creativity”
- Julia
Nikki Blanco Benjamin
Closer to home, Copenhagen’s Nikki Blanco Benjamin, a stylist driven by bold statements of self-expression finds her muse in family. With a creative style marked by bold expression, Nikki blends cultural heritage with a modern edge to create a vision that is distinctly hers. A vision that finds its roots in the powerful women of her family, women whose creativity and resilience continue to shape her, challenging her to see the world differently while celebrating confidence and self-expression.
“The challenge is to see the world differently”
- Nikki
Fatima Fransson
Like many famed creatives throughout history, Fatima Fransson divides her time between two cities. A Stockholm/Copenhagen-based multi-disciplinary artist, Fatima’s work as a designer has seen her create set pieces and runway looks across the world for famed houses like SAMSØE SAMSØE. With a passion for art and self-expression nurtured since childhood, Fatima’s muse could be no one else but her mother, Ann-Sofie, an entrepreneur and textile designer who taught her from a young age that dreams can always be made real.
“What makes a muse so powerful is how it evokes something deep and serves a strong reaction in others”
- Fatima
