PUMA Palermo: Authentic Football Nostalgia

Beautiful memories are like a time capsule, with one breath and a moment of clarity, we can transport ourselves back to a transcendent moment in time. For the return of the PUMA Palermo, we go back to the ancient island of Sicily, a cornucopia of life, adventure, and football. Wandering through narrow streets, we step into a rustic town square buzzing with life as the elegant sandstone buildings bake in the summer sun. Calls ring out from the stalls dotted around the square while your feet inexplicably carry you to the cart of a fruit vendor, their wooden stall overladen with the most glorious colors Mother Nature can muster. As the sea rolls lazily in the distance and the wind drifts through stone arches, the world blooms with the dazzling scents of a fresh summer's night.

Originally released over forty-five years ago as a part of PUMA’s special football cities series, the Palermo returns with a two-piece release to celebrate the Sicilian capital’s iconic fruit vendors or “fruttivendolo”. Evoking a deeply held sense of authentic football nostalgia, this low-top sneak is brought to life in pale blue and green with a retro nylon base bookended by swatches of crisp suede. Premium leather makes up the PUMA Formstrip that arcs across the laterals beneath gold-lettered suede fobs, while underfoot we find a classic dark rubber football midsole with treaded outsole.
