Find Your Luminosity with the Nike V2K Run Luminous

In the depths of Nordic winter, the sun rarely makes more than a brief appearance. This obfuscating darkness blankets the day and to some, it can seem oppressive, but even at its darkest, there is so much light to be found. Across the high northern latitudes, if you’re lucky, you have a chance to catch the Aurora Borealis dancing in the sky, a celestial, luminous triumph in the midst of biting cold. Much like the Northern Lights, we have the power to shine in the dark by connecting with ourselves, our friends, and our family.

By drawing on the strength within ourselves, we shine, and we illuminate those around us. To help capture the essence of what it means to be Luminous, we worked with our friend Fatimah Gabriella, a celebrated stylist and creative director from Copenhagen. Beyond her creative ability, Fatimah is an outspoken social and political activist who uses the influence her creativity has brought to uplift those in need.

Inspired by the communal legacy of the Winter Solstice, this special make-up of the Nike V2K Run Luminous is inspired by the act of uncovering the light within us, by placing precise hits of 3M within the mesh for a dazzling glow whenever you’re caught in a flash. Brought to life with a knit mesh base, the upper is layered with a lattice of speckled navy leather while a rubber cage inspired by the Zoom Vomero 5 bands the laterals.

A trail-ready speed-lacing system tracks the tongue while neon-framed Swooshes adorn the rubber cages and a thick pull-tab is stitched atop the heel. Underfoot, we find a sculpted Cushlon foam midsole that rises at the heel in striking fashion before being cinched in at the midfoot.
